1. Nobody stop the guy when he left for Chicago from Toronto at Pearson Airport. But there is stuff of UA stop him at Beijing Airport.
2. why not Air Canada stop him too for the same reason if it's a common rule to keep your passport valid more than 6 months.
3. I know you have to keep your passport valid for more than 6 months to apply any country's visa but actually that guy got the 3 year US visa on his passport. His US visa should be no problem.
