本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛最近经历了两次, 刚坐进车里要开车走人, 就有人上来拦住, 着急地要和我说什么. 开窗问能帮什么.
第一次是在shepperd/Consumer Rd. 一对 white couple, clean and normal. The white male asked me if I'm from China first. Then he told me he is a new immigrant from Brazil and had been looking for a job everywhere, but all he's got is rejection. Then he asked if I could offer him a job.
"Sorry, I don't have a job for you. I am looking for a job myself." I said.
"I can work in your backyard." he insisted.
"I am sorry, but I could not afford anybody working for me."
"How about buying us a meal, we havn't eat for a whole day." the man said loud and clear.
I was getting uncomfortable with his head sticking into my car and wanted to get rid of him ASAP. I didn't want to risk getting my purse and give him money, so I refused his request.
"Oh, man, you've got no heart." wa s his comment towards me.
I've never seen new immigrants looking for job like this and I am wandering what kind of new immigrants coming to Canada nowdays and who should be responsible for new immigrants getting settled. Are we going to see more immigrants begging for a job or a meal on the street?
I am a relatively new immigrant myself, I got laid off, I've got bills to pay, who should I ask for a job?
A few days later , at Sheppard/Kennedy, a single white male approached to my car and wanted to talk to me. I opened the window and listen to his "wanna get home to his parent"story and gave him some money for a bus ticket.
I couldn't believe this happening to me twice a week. I wouldn't be surprised to see beggers at street and I would choose to give them money or not. I would not feel guilty if I don't have the change and choose to ignore them. But beggers coming to my car is kinda of piss me off. I felt that I was force to listen to their story and obligation to give them money.
I felt regret that I opened my window and talked to the strangers. I probably won't open the window next time when strangers approaching to my car and want talking to me. I'd rather be a freak taking off in my car ingoring the stranger knocking on my window. Don't be too curious, it's probably nothing good.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
